Gut Reaction: IDW’s Michealangelo #…2?

IDW Mike #2

IDW Mike #2

Whoa, whoa, whoa… stop right there. There is some serious false advertising going on.

First: the Micro-Series was basically Eastman and Laird’s way of saying “One Shot”. So there should never be a #2. Ever, or for any reason. If you’re just going to make four issues and call them four issues, that’s not a micro-series, it’s a mini-series. And the fact that the stories do not continue would make it an anthology miniseries at that, which just makes my head hurt. Why would you do that? Why not just put them in the regular TMNT issues and maybe make 2 that month? It can’t be because #1s sell better, as has become the logic… if that was the case, you wouldn’t have called this one #2! You stupid, stupid people…. arg.

Okay, second, I dimly recall in issue #5 Splinter saying Mikey wasn’t ready for his weapons yet… so where did Mikey get the weapons? He has them. How does this fit into your narrative? Are you telling me you’re only eight issues in and you have continuity issues? Seriously? Arg.

Thirdly, and most importantly, this is another do-nothing issue. It’s a generic tale of Mike foiling robbers that could take place at any time in any Turtles continuity, save for one or two thought bubbles. And Mike is jumping around Time’s Square and New Years Eve. You telling me none of those thousands were looking up? Some ninja… ARG!

My gut reaction? I did not like this issue at all.

Oh yeah, and the art is terrible. Like, even as a non-artist I can say that.
