Gut Reaction: IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #6

Oh, I see what they’re doing. Last time they got the colored masks and the Turtles weren’t predominant on the cover. Now they’re on the cover but it all has a red tint, hiding the fact that they have colored masks. They want to have their cakes and eat it too, the slimy guys over at IDW.

I’m on to you.

Okay, so this issue is basically setting up the next arc, which continues the Baxter Stockman subplot involving the Mousers. We gets teased about them all issue, then they finally appear. And it looks like maybe Old Hob will get eaten. I honestly wouldn’t mind.

Six issues in and no Shredder? Krang, but no Shredder? What a weird, weird little title these guys are writing.

This is actually a half decent issue. As I said last time, Duncan’s art is much better with the Turtles having their colors. I think maybe he was always drawing them as though they were going to be colored differently. If somebody with more time on their hands than me wants to go back and recolor the original four issues to see if they look better, I wholly encourage it.

I’m just not going to do it.

I have a life.
